Joining Forces InitiativeIn 2011 the Federal Government created a job training program
emphasizing math and science called Joining Forces. This year more companies decided to participate in
the initiative and it is blossoming. On May 5, 2016, forty companies in the private sector committed to hiring over 100,000
Military veterans with a technical background within a ½ decade. More than 1 million veterans and their spouses
will have an opportunity to receive technical training in the fields of Cloud Computing, Nano technology, Application Development,
Software Engineering and Network Security. Some of the notable companies include Salesforce, Microsoft,
Cisco and Siemens. Programs like these not only provide our veterans opportunities in the technology job
market but are paramount to keep and return these jobs to the United States.
